Castle Elementary School History
Castle was named to honor a dedicated educational leader and respected principal, Charles H. Castle. After service in the Air Force, Mr. Castle settled into a rewarding career as a public educator. At Panama and Siebert Elementary Schools he inspired the respect of staff, students, and families. He had high expectations for academic performance and citizenship. Opening its doors in January 1976, Castle Elementary School in nestled in a quiet southwest Bakersfield neighborhood on the corner of Wilson Road and Edgemont Drive. Castle is truly a neighborhood school with most of the children living within walking distance. Over the years Castle Elementary School has worked hard to continue the traditions established by Mr. Castle.
Castle has a staff of 25 general education teachers, 2 resource specialist program teachers (RSP), and 1 special day class teacher (SDC). District support personnel for the instructional program include instrumental and vocal music instructors, a reading specialist, and a speech therapist. District psychologists, nurses, and curriculum and technology specialists also provide support as needed.
